The Religious Education program, gently advised by our loving minister, Rev. Susan Archer, has invited our congregation to meet shared needs for meaning, harmony, and peace by organizing and publicizing compassionate communication workshops. In early 2008, for example, the following notice appeared in the Cedar Lane News [Jan. 23, 2008, edition].
Special Workshop: Beyond Right and Wrong: Communicating Compassionately with Children and Adults. January 27, 3 -5 p.m. Parents and other adults are welcome to join our R.E. teachers in this special opportunity with outstanding consultant Ms. Inessa Love from the DC clustergroup of North America Nonviolent Communication, a group used by many of our UU communities.This workshop is for our R.E. teachers as part of their "Teacher Renewal." Parents and others are welcome to attend and learn how to practice this constructive way of being with one another and getting to deeper communication. $5 each for nonteachers;
pre-registration is required.
